SolTech’s technical department continuously works at furthering the development of existing solar energy solutions and the discovery new solutions that are integrated into the design of a building’s roof and facade. SolTech ShingEl is a unique combination of traditional shingle roofing and solar derived electrical production. ShingEl is fully compatible with Bender’s concrete Carisma shingles, and replacing them with any desired number of ShingEl shingles – thereby obtaining a roof that at the same time generates electricity – is a straightforward job.
Plans call for ShingEl production to be launched during the fall of 2016, but SolTech has already signed a test-order with the real estate firm of Kingdom House AB (earlier: 4 Tune i Norrköping AB). Installation on two houses presently under construction is scheduled to be carried out over the summer of 2016. The system’s total effect on installation is 28,956 watts, and the order is valued at 961,000 SEK ($ 117,200 US*). Our semi-transparent solar cell, SolTech ST, which is installed in Sapa Fasad 5050 & Sapa sliding door systems, is also included in this order. Kingdom House AB plans to build an additional 4-6 houses in the near future, where the prospective house owners will be offered the option of a “roof exchange” featuring the installation of SolTech and Sapa’s products.
* Based on an exchange rate of 8.20 SEK/US dollar
CEO Frederic Telander comments;
“During the past year, we have marked a keen, growing interest in solar energy solutions that are smart, attractive and integrated. Looking at the building market sector, we see a strong market, not only in the Nordic region but also in Germany, which we see as a promising second step in our launching of the product. SolTech ShingEl complements SolTech Sigma, which is our thermal solution that makes use of glass roof panels. Our technical department – with Sara Klingberg in charge and with Anna Svensson as part of the ShingEl team – has done a great job in the development and testing of this product. The potential is big and our perception is that production over the coming years will establish a given position in the market.”

SolTech Energy Sweden AB in brief:
SolTech Energy develops and sells a solar energy system based on research carried out over several years at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH- Royal Institute of Technology). The system is a part of a building’s outer shell; specifically, roofs and/or walls formed of glass (panels or glass plates) that function as both weather protection and sun-catchers for the production of heat, hot water and electricity. The assortment of suitable glass also includes unique thin-film solar cells in black and/or semi-transparent glass – or as isolated glass modules in various sizes and formats that promote integration with a building’s outer shell.
