SolTech Energy’s cooperation with Sapa Building Sytems centered on building-integrated solar cell installations has generated a first order from Skanska Sverige AB. The installation will be integrated in the design of a school Skanska is building in the well-profiled Vallastaden environmental project in Linköping. The order’s total value amounts to 3,750,000 SEK ($412,000 US), of which SolTech’s share will be 35-40%, dependent on the system’s final layout.
A semi-transparent solar cell can be used both in a glazed facade as well as on a glazed roof. The solar cell installation in Vallastaden consists of two parts: SolTech ST (semi-transparent thin film solar cells) will be mounted on the building’s facade by Sapa’s retail sales firm, Preconal AB. The facade’s design specifications call for a transparency degree that ranges from 0-40%, and an installed electric effect of circa 27,600 Watts. SolTech Supreme (thin film solar cells) will be mounted on the building’s roof by Glacell AB. Glacell has worked with solar cells since 2006 and is included in Lambertsson Sverige AB. This part of the system has an installed effect of circa 84,000 Watts.

CEO, Frederic Telander comments;
- ”Since the introduction of our cooperation with Sapa at the Nordbygg convention, interest in solar cell installations has notably increased. Wholly integrated semi-transparant solar cell solutions have, at last, made it possible for the construction industry to make use of solar energy installations that have intrinsic esthetic qualities that integrate and add rather than contrast and detract from a building’s design. That Skanska, as a leading actor within ”Green-building”, has placed a first order is a definitive indication of strength. We look forward to witnessing more business sales in the Nordic and Baltic regions based on all the business possibilities our exclusive contract with Sapa gives rise to.”

SolTech Energy in brief
SolTech Energy develops and sells a solar energy system based on research carried out over several years at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH- Royal Institute of Technology). The system is a part of a building’s outer shell; specifically, roofs and/or walls formed of glass (panels or glass plates) that function as both weather protection and sun-catchers for the production of heat, hot water and electricity. The assortment of suitable glass also includes unique thin-film solar cells in black and/or semi-transparent glass – or as isolated glass modules in various sizes and formats that promote integration with a building’s outer shell.
