SolTech Energy Sweden (publ.) has received an order from Lambertsson Sverige AB for a Soltech ST solar cell installation. The installation, with a capacity of nearly 35 KW (35,000 watts) will be mounted on the facade of a parking garage facility that Peab is building in the environmentally profiled community project of Vallastaden in Linköping. All told, the installation will consist of 547 SolTech solar cell panels with an order-value of approximately 750,000 SEK (. This marks SolTech’s third order in Vallastaden: Shanska has already installed SolTech ST units on the facade and roof of Vallastaden’s School at an earlier date, while Myresjöhus, at the same time, completed the installation of SolTech ShingEl on a semi-detached home.
SolTech ST is a unique semi-transparent thin-film solar cell, which – dependent on the customer’s objectives and needs – can be ordered in various degrees of transparency. In this particular case, the transparency rating of the solar cells will be 20 percent.
CEO Frederic Telander comments:
- A breakthrough order for semi-transparent, colored solar cells and, yet again, proof that solar cells no longer have be to be non-esthetic modules mounted above a building’s roof or outer walls. The parking garage will be decorated with our solar cells in an array of different colors that will enhance the esthetic quality of the building’s design. The market for what is often referred to as BAPV, standing for Building Applied Photovoltaics, is very comprehensive and together with our collaborative partner, Sapa Building Systems AB, we foresee a strong growth curve over the coming years.”
Christine Ekstedt, purchasing director for Peab:
- Functional, innovative development is a focus area for us at Peab. We were very gladdened when we learned that SolTech had BAPV-products that were both creative and esthetically attractive – and at the same time – products that generate a notably desirable volume of electricity.”

SolTech Energy in brief
SolTech Energy develops and sells a solar energy system based on research carried out over several years at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH- Royal Institute of Technology). The system is a part of a building’s outer shell; specifically, roofs and/or walls formed of glass (panels or glass plates) that function as both weather protection and sun-catchers for the production of heat, hot water and electricity. The assortment of suitable glass also includes unique thin-film solar cells in black and/or semi-transparent glass – or as isolated glass modules in various sizes and formats that promote integration with a building’s outer shell.
